Along time, the fascination for winnings and gaming have interested the movie directors and actors who brought to live many interesting, mysterious and ingenuous characters

On our previous edition of the magazine we brought to your attention The Hustler (with Paul Newman and Jackz Gleason), Maverick (with Mel Gibson, Jodie Foster and James Coburn) and Rounders (with Matt Damon and Edward Norton). These movies must be watched, each one has a special charm and the characters are sublime. We want to propose more movies that a gambling lover should not miss.

Two For The Money (2005)

The movie is considered a drama that describes the high stack challenge of the gamblers who make and lose their fortunes based on sports betting.   Matthew McConaughey is Brandon Lang, a former college soccer player with inexplicable talent for predicting the correct result of a game. The chance offers him the possibility to follow a new brilliant career when he is rugged and can no longer enter the soccer field. He is recruited by Walter Abrams (Al Pacino), the manager of one of the best sports consulting agency in the country. He considers Brandon brilliant but also a good money source. The father-son surrogate relation between the two increases the numbers on Walters’s bank account until Brandon’s inspiration begins failing and the situation becomes provocative and compelling.

The Good Thief (2002)

The movie is considered the best gambling and poker movie, due to the action and adrenaline. The action of the movie takes place in Neisse, France. Bob Montagnet, interpreted by Nick Nolte, is the son of a couple of an American and French lady. He used to be a gambling and drugs addicted. He reached the age when he really wants to end his thief career with a casino burglary in Monte Carlo. He wishes to steal some paintings deposited there; not for the money, but for the dangerous game.

A special girl player gets his attention: Jani, whom he starts seeing after work, a severe casino rule break. Jani is almost broke and the creditors start pressuring her. He gets close to Jack, asking him to become the inside man for a planned burglary.

High Roller: The Stu Ungar Story (2003)

Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos) interprets one of the greatest poker players of all times, Stu Ungar, who won 3 WSOP tournaments (the only player who has ever done that), as well as other tournaments. He won millions on the poker table, but also lost due to the horse races and drugs addiction that brought him to sleep in 1998. Imperioli reveals Ungar’s complex personality, his disorganized life style and his incredible gambling skills for blackjack, poker or rummy gin (his specialty)
