Big six, initially known under the name of “Wheel of fortune” or “Money Wheel” is included within the offer of the casinos around the entire world. Its origin can be found hundreds of years ago, when the soldiers would play the things confiscated from the defeated enemies. In order to avoid the conflicts between the inferiors, the commanders would encourage them to use this game for solving the disputes. Later, the wheel became one of the most popular attractions of the old carnivals. One of the variants of this game led to the roulette today.

The tradition has been kept along the years until today, and the wheel can now be found within the offer of many casinos in the world; it has also been the object of many TV shows in many countries.

How does it play?

Along the years, this gamble has many approaches. Initially, the soldiers would dig in a lance next to the wheel, as orientation point and each participant would mark his sign between the two segments of the wheel. The wheel would spin as fast as possible, and the closest mark to the orientation point would declare the winning soldier, without a fight. Since this method made them forget about the swords, the former soldiers would play the game within the village festivals, to celebrate the crops.

Today the wheel is divided into two segments, separated by needles. Each segment is associated to a number. While playing, the croupier spins the wheel and the winning segment id indicated by a needle fixed on a flexible leather or rubber piece that moves along the segment separators and creates a rubbing effect and contributes to slowing down the spinning.

There are also other variants of the game, as those divided into segments that use certain symbols and different stakes.

The best known variant of Big Six Wheel, especially within the casinos in the USA, is the one that uses the symbols of 1,2,5 and 20 dollars bills, plus two other symbols, usually a joker and the logo of the casino, represented on the wheel just once. The players bet the symbols and each bill pays the stake multiplied with the value of the bill.

The joker and logo pay 40, respectively 40 or 45 times the stake, according to the rules of the casino.

The wheel has 54 segments in the casinos in the USA and 52 in Australia and represents six groups of the main six stakes. The number of the segments in each group is indirectly proportional with the stakes offered. Thus, if the stake is bigger, the number of the segments on the wheel is smaller. The purpose of the game is to find out which group of segments on the wheel reaches the indicator when the wheel stops. One or more numbers can be bet on at the same time.

The advantage of the casino or the proportion of the stakes the operator expects to win is one of the largest. The statistics focus on the fact that next to keno, Big Six provides the casino more luck then it provides to the player. The house edge is between 11% and 24%.

The gambling specialists consider that on such a house edge the biggest winning chances belong to those who don’t play Big Six. Most of the cases, the wheel is preferred by those entering the casino for the first time, since is requires no specific knowledge for gambling. In order to defeat the statistics, the bets on 1 and 5 dollar bills that include the casino to the lowest house edge are indicated. Usually, this game has no large bets.
