Former Soviet states have banned all forms of gambling and casinos closed

The neon lights are no longer flashing; the roulette wheels have spun their last turn. Casinos across Russia closed their doors as a sweeping ban on gambling went into effect, similar bans hit neighboring Ukraine or Kyrgyzstan. Governments all over the world are grappling with economically tough times and seem to be demonizing gambling activity as the root of all social problems.
